Description
Cambridge is widely perceived to be wealthy and prosperous with huge potential. And yet the city and many of its communities face significant challenges. It's the most unequal city in the UK based on income distribution, with exceptionally high housing costs, congestion, poor social mobility and environmental stress (not least on water supply) contributing to an imbalanced and sub-optimal set of outcomes. The gap in life expectancy between most prosperous and least prosperous wards is one stark indicator of this imbalance. To provide a sustainable and high quality of life for everyone who lives, works and studies in the city, and to allow its communities to thrive within a "one planet" understanding of its resource consumption, decision makers and communities in Cambridge need a richer understanding of how the sometimes competing economic, social and environmental priorities interact, and how they change over time. Cambridge City Council wishes to procure a partner to develop a Cambridge City Portrait. This will be a data analysis and data framework or data model that can present, in an engaging and assessable manner, a detailed understanding of the changing nature of Cambridge, its economy, society and environment.
