Description

The School of Engineering at the University is looking to purchase a smart grid and transmission line test rig(s) setup which is suitable for: o All test rig or rigs should come with both the necessary and additional recommended test equipment, software, power supply/supplies and accessories to ensure full functionality of the test rig(s) system. o Modular integration of renewable energies test rigs where applicable. o Each test rig frame panel should be width <1300mm, depth <800mm and height <2000mm. o All relevant electrical and mechanical safety considerations built into the design. o To be supplied with interactive/multimedia training course materials/operating instructions from the manufacture. o Be able to perform a range of experiments on the rig(s) including three-phase busbar, coupling, open-circuit transmission, circuit breaker overtime behaviours. o Be able to perform a range of experiments on the rig(s) including complex loads, load monitoring and power consumption analysis - using a range of resistance, induction, and capacitance loads. o Allow for the investigation of dynamically alternating loads, power generation and intelligent energy management. o Allow for the investigations of three-phase transmission lines, cables, earth-fault compensation, power networks, load voltage regulation and protection overvoltage/undervoltage. o Have a wind power plant facility which allows for synchronisation to the grid. o Measuring instrumentation to be provided with various communication interfaces to allow for PC control from user input. o Power Engineering software must be provided for the intelligent control and evaluation of smart grids, with necessary displays(s). o Power Engineering software to allow for simulation work where appropriate. The necessary software and any training manuals/exercises for students to complete when in the laboratory environment must be supplied in electronic format The warranty period must be a minimum of one year.
