Description
London Borough of Barnet (LBB) is seeking to appoint contract specific service provider(s) to deliver arboricultural services across four contracts, Tree Works West ref 702496, Tree Works East ref 702497, Pollarding and Basal Growth ref 702498, Felling and Stump Removal ref 702499 on its behalf for a 5 year period from 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2028 with the option to extend for a further period or periods of up to 3 years subject to budget constraints and performance.

Tree Works West 702496 Contract Area A is comprised of 12 Wards. The Contract is for the planned cyclical maintenance, responsive and urgent tree works to the Authority’s trees in parks, highways, woodlands, and any other council sites. The majority of the work requirements to street and park trees is programmed by the Authority on a three-year cyclical, ward by ward basis. This ensures that appropriate tree maintenance works are routinely carried out, reducing disruption to traffic and allowing a structured approach to area based tree work. Responsive works, within parks, highways, woodlands and other council sites are generated on a monthly basis and are usually for one-off single site works. The contract will be for a five year period with up to a further three year contract extension subject to budget and performance. Tree Works East 702497 Contract Area A is comprised of 12 Wards. Pollarding & Basal Growth 702498 is comprised of all 24 of Barnet’s Wards. The majority of Pollards are programmed as part of a biennial regime. Others are allocated to a yearly or three yearly regime. This ensures that appropriate tree pollarding works are routinely carried out during the dormant season. Basal growth removal is carried during the spring and summer months annually The contract will be for a five year period with up to a further three year contract extension subject to budget and performance. Felling & Stump Removal 702499 is comprised of all 24 of Barnet’s Wards. On average, 500 trees are removed each year. The Contract is for the planned felling and stump removal works to the Authority’s trees in parks, highways, woodlands, and any other council sites. The majority of the felling and stump removal work requirement to street trees is programmed by the Authority on a three-year cyclical, Ward by Ward basis. This ensures that appropriate tree maintenance works are routinely carried out reducing disruption to traffic and allows a structured approach to area based tree work. Responsive felling and stump removal works, within parks, highways, woodlands and other council sites are generated on a monthly basis and are usually for one-off single site works. The contract will be for a five year period with up to a further three year contract extension subject to budget and performance.
