Legal Justification
These additional services to be delivered by the service provider enable the Translational Healthcare Technologies Group (THT) to build on existing acquisition analysis techniques that have taken years to develop. Were THT to switch suppliers, it would cause substantial rework and introduce unacceptable additional risks and costs to the current projects. Without the incumbent's continued input and expertise regarding data management, the LungSpy study will perforce be paused to further recruitment, (up to 80 participants with a variety of suspected lung conditions are being recruited from within the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh), which would jeopardise the delivery of the study endpoints and the start of a GBP 2.5M Wellcome Trust funded multi-site ICU clinical study. In reality, new algorithms would be required and the team would lose years of effort.
