BEIS is responsible for administering relevant environmental legislation including, implementation of the Environmental Assessment of Plans and Programmes Regulations 2004 ‘the SEA Regulations’ (or its future equivalent) to undertake an SEA (or its future equivalent) to inform its decision on government plans and programmes covering offshore oil and gas, offshore gas and carbon dioxide storage, offshore renewables, and hydrogen. This means that SEAs need to be carried out and maintained as necessary prior to licensing / leasing rounds in which offshore areas on the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) are offered. Habitat Regulations Assessments will additionally be required, if any applications relating to a specific licensing round could potentially significantly affect the integrity of any national site network.

Below are indicative timescales relating to this potential competition:- Competition Deadline – 09th December 2022 Evaluation – Dec 2022 - Jan 2023 Indicative Award – 30th January 2023 Standstill Period – 31st January 2023 - Friday 10th Feb 2023 Final Award – Feb 2023 Mobilisation – March 2023 Contract Commencement – April 2023
