Brief description: Sandwell MBC are looking for an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to join our established team to undertake statutory duties under across the borough. In Sandwell we have a police custody suite and a variety of general and psychiatric hospital sites that provide AMHP's the opportunity to utilise their skill set in a wide range of different circumstances.

The applicant must be a qualified AMHP (and social worker who is currently registered with Social Work England). Applicants must be conversant with the Mental Health Act 1983 amended 2007 and other relevant legislation, guidance and policy. You will be experienced in dealing with complex and challenging situations, an accomplished assessor of risks and have sophisticated assessment skills. In addition to considering and undertaking Mental Health Act assessments AMHP's will be required to complete such as duty, social circumstances reports, warrant requests and other court task. You must hold a Social Work Qualification (DipSW or equivalent) and a recognised AMHP qualification (Masters level or previous equivalent) An Enhanced DBS with Children's and Adults Barring List Check is required for this role.
