Description

The RHS Core project was initiated to maintain and enhance the Remote Handling Systems. The project objectives are to address systems obsolescence issues and to ensure there is a high level of RH systems availability during remote operations, maximizing the availability of the JET torus for scientific exploration and eventual JET decommissioning. During remote operations, the two articulated booms at Octant 1 and Octant 5 are driven into the vessel through the equatorial ports. The booms need to be visually guided into the ports to ensure they do not collide with anything. Currently this is performed by an operator positioning themselves next to the port, looking into the port whilst the boom is driven in. A new system is needed to replace this manual process and to provide views of the boom as it moves through the port. The images from these cameras shall be available to operators in the remote handling control room and selectable within the current camera control software for display on any of the control room screens. This specification describes the scope of supply for cameras and lenses for this system.
