Description

The Horniman wishes to appoint a suitably qualified fire alarm specialist to provide a full fire alarm replacement and strip out of existing system. The site is a fully operational, occupied and staffed storage facility that houses the majority of the museum's collection. As such extreme care is required when working within the building and around the stored collection. Paying particular attention to mitigating the impact of dust, debris, water, accidental damage and safe systems of work especially around the moving and use of ladders and access equipment. The fire system will consist of manual break glass call points, automatic smoke and heat detectors, aspirating pipe detection, electronic sounder/strobe units and suitable interface modules to suit the building layout. The building is a four storey former Victorian school based around three halls and associated classrooms. Other improvement works for the removal of asbestos will be taking place concurrently in some parts of the building, these works are localised in extent and are not envisaged to prevent the fire alarm being installed, although close coordination with the asbestos removal contractor will be required. Access to certain localised areas may be restricted for a maximum of 2-3 days, and works to the basement for up to two weeks. The successful contractor is required to work closely and collaboratively with the asbestos removal contractor to ensure all works on site are completed safely. This will require on-site co-ordination meetings with the asbestos removal contractor. The effective management of health and safety risks and programme is considered key for the successful delivery of these works. With all work to be completed before the 31st March 2023. Scope and Objectives of the project can be found in the specification, CDM information, drawings and the pricing schedule. In order to receive the drawings for the project, tendering contractors should email Adele Harrington (Project Co-ordinator) on aharrington@horniman.ac.uk with an email titled 'SCC Fire Alarm Drawing Request - [Insert Name of Contractor]'. A check will be undertaken on your company to ensure legitimacy and if approved the drawing package will be sent to you either by email or online document transfer. All unsuccessful tendering contractors are required to delete the drawings once the process has been completed, and email confirmation of this will be requested. Digital tender submissions must be received by 12 noon Tuesday 24th January 2023. • A compliant tender requires tender submission in both a paper and digital format to be received at the times detailed above. We will not accept tender submissions from companies who have not undertaken a site visit.
