Description

Framework for the supply of FTIR Microscope & Acoustic Microscope and Aftersales to CPI's National Formulation Centre

Lot Division

1 FTIR Microscope
  • Value: £200K

CPI require an FTIR Microscope for applications such as detecting different phases in polymers, characterising the laminate layers in cross section, detecting impurities and inhomogeneity in films and coatings (inks, battery electrodes and polymer films). Mapping is an important function as often we are interested in statistical variations across a sample. We also anticipate using this to characterise the composition of formulated pharmaceutical products (e.g. tablets)

2 Acoustic Microscope
  • Value: £250K

CPI require an Acoustic Microscope. The Formulation Business Unit have identified a need for an analytical capability to enable the integrity of opaque systems to be analysed for the presence of voids or delamination’s with precision and accuracy. These opaque systems maybe coatings that are 10s to 100’s of micrometers thick on metal, plastic or paper substrates applied as single or in multilayers. They may also be adhesively bonded structures, fibre reinforced boards, multilayer laminates or embedded electronic circuitry for example
