Following a successful bid, Sheffield City Council has launched a Staying Close Programme. We are seeking to commission Speech and Language specialist support that will form part of this innovative programme. This provides an outline of the programme as a whole, with details of the SALT support we are seeking to commission. The successful provider will be able to provide a registered and qualified Speech and Language Therapist with the appropriate clinical support and supervision in place.

This provides an outline of the programme as a whole, with details of the SALT support we are seeking to commission. … The successful provider will be able to meet the following requirements and ways of working. • Provide an experienced Speech and Language practitioner with experience of working with young people 16 – 21 who will be seconded into a multi professional team to work collaboratively with other professionals to develop Individual care packages focused on independence and resilience building. • The worker would need to receive clinical supervision from the provider as well as day to day line management from the Staying Put team leader • This is an ambitious and new piece of work so there would be an element of learning as a team. The service provider will report on key learning as part of this process. • A thorough understanding of DLD and broad language and communication needs is important, as well as the ability to train and support others to develop a working understanding. • The service will be needs led, and not dependant on diagnosis. The Speech and Language Therapist, as part of the wider team will deliver in a range of community settings and in young people’s homes.
