Description
The Authority intends to launch a tender to appoint a single contractor to provide and manage the maintenance and repair services for the Environment Agency Monitoring Laboratories analytical laboratory equipment. It is the intention to put in place an agreement that will enable other organisations within Defra Group to use this contract, for example, CEFAS and APHA.
Total Quantity or Scope
The Authority intends to launch a tender to appoint a single contractor to provide and manage the maintenance and repair services for the Environment Agency Monitoring Laboratories analytical laboratory equipment. The Environment Agency (EA) has national services operating as independent business units, including the Monitoring Laboratories (ML). The ML have responsibility for the provision of analytical analysis in accordance with the Agency’s statutory responsibility for monitoring the environment. The ML currently comprises two (2) sites with analytical laboratories situated in Exeter, and Leeds, and employs in excess of 220 scientists, analytical specialists and support staff. The ML currently owns and uses over 200 major analytical instruments.An early supplier engagement event will be held on 29th March at the EA site in Starcross. Attendance at this event must be booked by contacting Colette Newton: colette.newton@defra.gov.ukThe purpose of the Supplier Event is to provide a forum for potential suppliers to gain a broad understanding of potential future requirements, and it will include a tour of the laboratory. It will also be used to share and gain feedback which may be used to shape the proposition before any formal procurement commences.All information provided as part of this PIN is an estimate and may be subject to change.
