Description

Size Reduction is one of the RAICo programme’s main themes and it is aiming at developing size reduction tools for fission decommissioning and fusion engineering applications. The tools shall meet a range of sizes and requirements but focusing on smaller tools than have been previously developed making them suitable for remote handling.

Total Quantity or Scope

Using robotics and AI in hazardous nuclear decommissioning environments will provide the step-change in capabilities needed to move towards a cheaper, faster, and less hazardous set of next generation decommissioning activities. The programme is managed by UKAEA’s Remote Applications in Challenging Environments (“RACE”) facility.
