Description

Energy House 2.0 (EH2.0) is a large-scale building physics test laboratory at the University of Salford Manchester. The build and commissioning of EH2.0 was completed in February 2022 and two test houses have been constructed inside one of the chambers, which were completed by January 2023. The project builds on the successful Energy House project: (https://www.salford.ac.uk/built-environment/laboratories-and-studios/energy-hous... ). A video of the project can be found here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oP3bsXeQKYU EH2.0 is a unique facility and one of most advanced building test facilities on the planet. It has the following features: • Two large chambers capable of having 2 family homes built in each one (four homes in total) • Temperature controlled to within 0.5 °C from -20°C to +40 °C • Wind, rain, solar radiation and snow can be generated • These conditions provide testing facilities for housing covering 95% of the global population. The Energy House 2.0 project, which is being part funded by the European Regional Development Fund, has a requirement to mimic the effects of solar radiation on the homes. We have a system in place that requires mechanical sliding mechanisms to allow the solar lamps to move.
