Description

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) awarded the Global Mine Action Programme 3 Enabling Contract 2 Lot 1 to The HALO Trust. The contract value is up to £3,025,000. The contract will run from April 2023 to the end of March 2025 with a possible extension by up to 6 months with the potential additional value of up to £3,025,000. GMAP3 Afghanistan will contribute to the overall GMAP3 programme. The Global Mine Action Programme 3 (GMAP3) began in April 2022, and is building on the success of its predecessor (the Global Mine Action Programme 2) in tackling the threat of landmines and other explosive remnants of war. The strategic objective for GMAP3 Contract 2 Lot 1, is to provide technical surveys and clearance of mines and Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) in Angola, Cambodia, Somalia and Zimbabwe; explosive ordnance risk education (EORE) and community liaison visits in in Angola, Cambodia, Somalia and Zimbabwe; Capacity development of national mine action authorities in Somalia and Angola only, to protect FCDO previous investment and allow continuity of service. The GMAP3 contract 2 Lot 1 will be designed and implemented to achieve all the following outcomes: - Measurable progress towards Anti Personnel Mine Ban Convention (APMBC) - The Convention on Cluster Munitions (CCM); The Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW). - Treaty compliance; responsive and equitable nationally-owned mine action - Mine action integrated or sequenced with humanitarian, development, peacebuilding or stabilisation initiatives - Safe and productive land use improves livelihoods and basic services, - Improving quality of life and the environment - Risk of harm reduces which increases returns and freedom of movement
