Description

The Welsh Government wishes to develop additional approaches to bovine TB control, over and above the statutory measures currently being used in the Pembrokeshire area.

Total Quantity or Scope

The project will focus on identifying residual disease risk in clear testing cattle and developing a pathway for mitigating cattle-to-cattle transmission risk. The Client proposes this to be through a risk-based approach involving identification and management of high-risk animals and intensive veterinary oversight of biosecurity practices aimed at improving the bovine TB disease status on the farms enrolled in the study. The Client anticipates that this project will support control of bovine TB in areas of worsening epidemiological parameters potentially resulting in Officially TB Free Status Withdrawn (OTFW) herds (particularly persistent breakdown herds) regaining Official TB Free (OTF) status more quickly and OTF herds remaining free from restrictions.
