Description

The final date and time for the submission of bids is Wednesday 25th May 2022 at 11:00am. DO NOT apply directly to the buyer. All tender information MUST be submitted through the Jaggaer eSourcing Portal. Brief Description of the requirement: The objective is to apply 'systems thinking' and 'system dynamics' methodologies to map the factors that impact performance of construction products throughout the full construction product life cycle. This is expected to be achieved using the following aims from the research: 1. Complete a detailed literature review that provides the basis for the systems map with regards to identifying the variables, drivers, relevant policies and stakeholder groups in relation to construction products performance. The literature review is expected to define the critical concepts, theories and fields of expertise relevant to the project and inform the most suitable systems method, or combination of methods (stakeholder analysis, connection circles or causal loop diagrams) to deliver this project. 2. Participatory systems map development via stakeholder interviews and workshops to validate the findings from the literature review and develop the conceptual whole systems map [this process is expected to be iterative]. 3. Stakeholder workshops to support the literature review and stakeholder interviews, and as a means of validating the information obtained to date by hosting larger discussions. 4. Phase 3: this would involve further literature reviews, stakeholder interviews and workshops but of a more focused nature whereby a specific theme or construction product is reviewed in detail. This section is dependent on the completion and outcomes from Phase 0 to 2. Expected outcomes from the research: • A whole systems map outlining the performance of construction products throughout the full construction product life cycle. • Sub-maps of example construction products demonstrating causal relationships for product performance on a case-study basis. • Original datasets of interviews/surveys and workshop results. • A template for a systems dynamics model (or other suitable methodology) for quantifying the casual relationships associated with construction products performance. • A summary report for OPSS that summarises the work of Phases 0-3. Two journal publications: one covering Phases 0-2 and one covering Phase 3 respectively. It is expected that the quality of the work developed through this project will be of peer-reviewed publishable quality.
