Description

National Biodiversity Network Trust (NBN) is a registered charity, established in 2000, to facilitate a UK-wide public/voluntary sector partnership for biodiversity data. The trust is a non-advocacy organisation whose aim is to create a National Biodiversity Network that is the most complete source of UK biodiversity information and to provide a mechanism for accessing it to anyone that needs it. The NBN Trust has developed a bold strategy for the next five years to build on the successes achieved so far. The challenge is to increase the use of biological records through improving their quality and the flow of data through the system, whilst maintaining and improving the underlying recording and data access infrastructure. The Trust is only able to carry out its work because of the collective support of its membership. The SNCB Parties (Statutory Nature Conservation Body) are affiliate members of the Trust alongside other government agencies and non-governmental organisations. These party members are Natural England, NatureScot and Northern Ireland Environment Agency. This memorandum of agreement sets out the principles which shall govern the relationship between the SNCB Parties and the NBN Trust, including their respective obligations and rights.
