Description

The Main House is predominately glazed with float glass that is comparatively weak that forms into sharp shards when it breaks. Many years ago a project had been completed to install a safety film to some of the risk glazing to upgrade the safety of the glass to meet the requirements of the Workplace Regulation 14. However the random tests found most of this film was very old or poor initial quality and had either degraded offering little base film strength or was failing through lack of adhesion to the glass. Both would be deemed as providing inadequate protection. The works required would pull the existing base film from the glass where installed, soften the residue adhesive and scrap from the glass, preclean the panes and install Saint Gobain 4MIL Safety Film to 133 second floor panes, 128 first floor panes, 348 ground floor panes and 148 basement panes In addition further similar works would also be completed on Philp House
