1 PA System

Audio Visual is a key component in delivering good teaching and operations at the University of Birmingham. The University has a strong in-house Audio-Visual team that sets design standards applicable throughout the institution, handles most design and sign-off tasks, provides professional advice, and maintains a large collection of over 350 spaces. The University requires a supplier of Audio-Visual kit who can provide an upgrade for the existing equipment installed within the Elgar Concert Hall. The Elgar Concert Hall is situated within the University's Bramall Music Building, which is an extension of the Aston Webb Building, and sits alongside the Great Hall. The Bramall opened its doors in June 2012 and includes a 450-seat concert hall (The Elgar Concert Hall) designed by renowned acoustician Nicholas Edwards of Acoustic Dimensions (Symphony Hall Birmingham, Symphony Centre Dallas, Royal Shakespeare Theatre). For further information, please visit: https://www.birmingham.ac.uk/bramall/index.aspx The concert hall and its acoustics can be configured for rehearsals and performances ranging from solo recitals to full symphony orchestra, 200-strong University Choir, multi-projector video and music-theatre presentations, and the electroacoustic studios' 100-channel sound diffusion system. New requirements for the upgrade will need to be compatible with existing equipment within the Elgar Concert Hall, and it is a mandatory requirement that delivery of equipment and installation or configuration will take place during the University's Christmas closed period, to ensure teaching is not affected. For the PA System, the University currently owns a stock of various D&B Audiotechnik speakers (E12, E8, E6, E3, V10P, B6, B4) and amplifiers (D12, D6, D40, EPac), used for front/side/foldback fills as required, and a small stock of monitor wedges (M6). Any system design will need to integrate with the above existing equipment. Equipment will need to be delivered, received, and installed by no later than 14th January 2024.
