Description

Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust (the "Authority") is conducting market engagement in relation to its requirement for a Medical Staff Appraisal and Revalidation Solution. Currently the Trust uses the MAG form for medical staff appraisals and manual processes to record the information. 360 feedback exercises for patients and colleagues are currently done by another company. All the documentation is kept within folders for the Responsible Officer to review when making a Revalidation submission. We support 540 connected doctors to complete appraisals in a timely manner; chase all outstanding appraisals and set up all 360 feedback exercises. There is a live spreadsheet which needs to be kept up to date and prepare the portfolios ready for the Responsible Officer to make a recommendation to the GMC. We have a high turnover of staff going through Revalidation over the next three years. This number has been made even bigger due to Revalidation dates being pushed back by twelve months due to the pandemic. The recording of appraisals and associated information would be simplified by development of a more sophisticated data management system. An online system will also increase patient satisfaction, simply because the medical staff can see where they are lacking and have this flagged up through the system. This can all be done remotely and will be more accessible for the staff. There are issues with the MAG form where people struggle to be able to open it on their computers. Furthermore, they will be able to prove their competencies via a variety of methods by uploading recordings, certificates and letters from patients alongside the traditional material. Suppliers who are able to offer solutions relevant to this requirement are invited to express an interest and respond to a market engagement questionnaire. Further details on how to do this are contained within the additional information section of this notice. This exercise is intended to provide potential bidders with the opportunity to review the Authority's Draft Specification and to provide information regarding the services they can offer that could meet these outline requirements. This builds on the Authority's commitment to engage with the market, by sharing information and seeking input from the market to enable us to develop the final specification and determine the appropriate route to market in a fair and transparent manner.
