Description

The Connected Places Catapult is the UK's innovation accelerator for transport, cities and places. It provides impartial 'innovation as a service' for public bodies, businesses and infrastructure providers to achieve step-change improvements in the way people live, work and travel. The Connected Places Catapult connects businesses and public sector leaders to cutting-edge research to spark innovation and grow new markets. It delivers a wide range of Research & Development projects and commercialisation activities to remove barriers to innovation adoption, working with a wide range of academic, business and public sector organisations to develop innovative ecosystems. We are now seeking to build its agile supplier base of resource (workforce) to support the delivery of a wide range of projects and other innovation acceleration activities. This is an exciting opportunity to work with our organisation and work on projects in a number of different disciplines. Strong experience working with academia, SME's, large businesses, government departments will be beneficial as is working on international projects.

Lot Division

1 VISUAL COACHING

Pitch coaching and preparing innovators (Academics/SME’s) for pitching and capturing and articulating a video which showcases their offering. Key capabilities: Supporting the development of stories/scripts for innovative products and services Supporting the development of visual content for pitches Coaching the delivery of pitches live and/or for recording Access to facilities to enable the creation and delivery of pitches Producing and editing quality audio-visual material

2 INVESTOR COACHING

Preparing innovators from a range of market areas and levels of development for pitching to and engaging with investors. Key capabilities: Support the development of investment pitches Critique and development of business plans and business models Educate innovators on investment landscape and strategy Access to investors and investor networks at different levels

3 COMMUNICATIONS & ENGAGEMENT COACHING

Guidance and support for innovators in PR and communications with a particular focus on driving diverse and inclusive networks. Key Capabilities: PR and communication strategies and campaigns using multiple channels and media Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity approaches and engaging with diverse groups Place-based communication and PR and stakeholder engagement, e.g. local authorities, councillors, private developers, non-profit organisations, residents, etc. Access to media channels and stakeholder groups

4 PARTNERSHIP AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT COACHING

Preparing innovators from a range of market areas and levels of development for pitching to and engaging with commercial partners and customers. Key capabilities: Support the development of customer and funding pitches Critique and development of partnership, sales and bidding plans and processes including navigating public procurement Educate innovators on sales and bidding strategy and implementation Developing sales, marketing, branding and identity strategies Access to networks of industry partners in the connected places markets Support for the development of international opportunities

5 WRITING AND PRESENTATION

Provide writing and presentation skills coaching to enable innovators to adapt their communications to different audiences, e.g. academic or technical text for public consumption. Key capabilities: Developing copy for different types of publication Refining tone of voice in written publications to maximise the impact of the communication Coaching tone of voice in written publications to maximise the impact of the communication
