Description
As part of the soft landscape works, BBV require the supply of a variety of grass seed mixes. Grassland typologies will include: • low maintenance grass mix • species rich wildflower mixes (acid, neutral and calcareous) • amenity grass • wetland mixes • heathland mix • agricultural mix The largest volume required on the project will be the lineside embankment seeded areas which will be low maintenance grass mix. Landscaping will be implemented from now through to 2029, dependant on construction programme. Temporary seeding of stockpiles and seeding of permanent assets will be included. The requirements associated with the supply of the seed are set out in the HS2 Lawn, Meadow and Wetland Plant Procurement Strategy document. Appropriate certification shall be provided, demonstrating: • Species authenticity, purity of variety • Region of seeds • Area of plant breeding/ growth and • Area of final seed and plant harvest Seed Certification: All seed mixes shall confirm to the requirements set out in Annex 7 of the Guide to Seed certification Procedures in England and Wales. The seed must be supplied in sealed containers with a pink certification label. Tenderers should provide a method statement for the supply and delivery of seed material that should be composed of the following, as a minimum: • Preparation/ harvesting method/ environment • Packaging/ storage, and • Delivery Tenderers should provide a risk assessment of typical risks relevant to the services that should be composed of the following (as a minimum): • Risk cause; • Risk effect, and • Measures to avoid, reduce or mitigate the risk Seed and Plant Stock All seed stock should be of UK provenance and dispatched in accordance with industry advice to minimise the risk of disease transfer from continental Europe and in the case of the ecological habitats, the avoidance of non-native variants. Evidence of this should be provided on a provenance certificate. A record of all provenances with independent verification will be required for all seed material to ensure that it is traceable through a collection and production process to a registered source or basic material. In addition, OSTS or ISTA certificates of germination, purity and composition should be submitted for seed mixes when requested.
