Provision of Livestock Sales Data Collection

Total Quantity or Scope

The provision of livestock sales data to the Authority, APHA (and may include other Executive Agencies of the Authority) as well as the Welsh Government and the Scottish Government. The livestock sales data is collected to provide an average market sales price for livestock (cattle, sheep, and pigs) which fall into specific categories.The livestock sales data provided will be used primarily to support a cattle compensation system, based on table valuations as well as various other reports required by Defra.The initial term of the contract is from 1 July 2023 - 30 June 2026 with the option to extend for a further 36 months up to 30 June 2029

Legal Justification

The service being procured has statutory implications because it enables the Authority to comply with its statutory obligations as laid out in the Cattle Compensation (England) Order 2019 and the Individual Ascertainment of Value (England) Order 2019 by providing the information needed on a monthly basis to enable compensation to be paid for TB reactors to farmers. The Livestock Auctioneers Association (LAA) and the Institute of Auctioneers and Appraisers in Scotland (IAAS) own the data
