Legal Justification

The modification to the contract for these additional services is required to ensure that DWP can make significant further investment in the condition of its critical assets and address a backlog maintenance liability and address urgent fire safety issues in relation to the condition of fire alarm systems, fire door and compartmentation integrity which have become apparent through survey activity conducted in 2022. The contract was modified with the incumbent supplier due to the urgent and critical requirement of the services, which a delay in provision would incur significant inconvenience and would prevent the deliverability of the works by March 2024. And also to avoid the potential significant duplication of costs onboarding a different supplier.
