Description

To cut an area of approximately 2 hectares of gorse scrub within Studland dunes, Dorset, rake up the arisings and burn all arisings on agreed fire sites. The site is at the northern end of the Studland peninsula on part of an extensive dune system which is designated as a SSSI, SAC and SPA and National Nature Reserve. The terrain is undulating with areas of exposed sand, dune vegetation and dense gorse scrub, with access only possible in 4X4 along a 1.6km unsurfaced sandy track. The beach is heavily used by members of the public and the nearby road (although private) is heavily used by traffic using the chain ferry and accessing the coast. This work forms part of the NLHF and EU-LIFE funded project Dynamic Dunescapes-DuneLIFE HG-16-08643; LIFE 17 NAT/UK/000570.
