Legal Justification
Derby City Council require National Grid to make connections/disconnections to/from their low voltage distribution cables to facilitate a large programme of bus stop refurbishments. Specifically connections/disconnections are associated with bus shelters and real time information screens. National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) are a licensed Distribution Network Operator (DNO) that owns and operates the network of cables, transformers and towers that bring electricity from the national transmission network to businesses and homes. Approximately 50 orders will be placed with National Grid based on individual quotations for each site. Use of an independent connection provider (ICP) would require the approval of NGED and is not viable for these small-scale works.
