Description

The ATF3 North Walney Cycling and Walking scheme aims to develop and deliver a 2.32km LTN 1/20 compliant cycling, walking and wheeling route on North Walney, Barrow-in-Furness. Commencing at Earnse Bay, the route will run along West Shore Road and Trent Vale, provide an off-road link through Vickerstown Park, before re-joining the highway at the Jubilee Bridge junction with Walney Promenade. The route provides a continuous, safe, direct and attractive active travel link for residents of North Walney facilitating access to the town centre via onward connections and recently installed infrastructure along Bridge Road and Michaelson Road (delivered through the Active Travel Fund 2). It also provides a link to residential areas, schools and the Earnse Bay Community Hub project on Walney Island which has recently secured funding through the #BrilliantBarrow Town Deal.
