Legal Justification
A mini-competition was held in 2023 for the original project, which involved RNA extraction, sample QC, stand-specific RNAseq and data analysis for blood samples from a subset of patients with bronchiectasis participating in the BRIDGE study. GENEWIZ provided the best price, over 10k GBP less than that quoted by other competitors, and the best service within this competition, which included extensive data analysis, and were awarded the project. The work yielded high impact results and we now wish to combine these with further RNA sequencing data from all of the remaining participant samples from the BRIDGE study, and a COPD cohort for disease comparison. For the best value, we wish to use the control cohort data obtained in the original project, and to ensure that data from the patient samples analysed in the first project is exactly comparable to that in the upcoming project, allowing integration into one large bronchiectasis patient cohort. GENEWIZ have agreed to perform combined data analysis of the two projects at no additional charge
