Description

Southend-on-Sea City Council are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced contractor to carry out structural repairs and the installation of a suitable method of corrosion protection to extend the life of both the existing undamaged and repaired sections of the Prince George extension at the sea end of the Pier. The works will consist of breaking out all loose and damaged concrete to expose corroded reinforcement, the replacement of the corroded reinforcement and the repair of the concrete. The concrete repair will incorporate the installation of a titanium mesh which will be connected to a small electric current to provide protection against future corrosion. The whole of the existing structure will then be encapsulated in a sprayed concrete finish maintaining the Pier's existing appearance. The works will be carried out under a NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contract Option A with Client amendments over a period of approximately 2 years.
