Description

Skills Bootcamps help Surrey County Council meet its strategic priority of ‘Growing a Sustainable Economy so Everyone Can Benefit’ and guiding mission ‘No One Left Behind’ through providing skills training to enable residents to access careers in sectors of the economy where there are skills gaps. Skills Bootcamps are needed to address the skills gaps in key sectors of the economy of Surrey, in doing so, also improving the prospects of its residents. The priority sectors identified are as follows: Digital – including cyber and games Green skills – retrofit, insulation, green electrical and sustainability Advanced engineering and manufacturing Health and social care Further Education (FE) colleges, Higher Education (HE) institutions and independent training providers will be commissioned to deliver Skills Bootcamps across Surrey to residents seeking to either upskill to allow progression within their existing job or re-skill to transition into a new role. Training providers delivering Bootcamps will engage closely with local businesses to support participants to understand and access suitable roles, as well as undertaking targeted promotional and outreach work ensuring that under-represented groups get equitable access to Skills Bootcamps. The contract requirement is for an 18-month contract commencing May 2024 and ending in 30th September 2025. The period 1st April 2025 to 30th September 2025 is to achieve outcomes for the learners who completed their Skills Bootcamp in FY2024-25. Skills Bootcamps are an established mechanism for addressing skills gaps in key sectors of the economy.

Lot Division

1 Cyber

Cyber - Support participants to understand current information and system security technology practices, learning security measures and protections while also preparing them for the real-world cyber security job market.

2 Games Development and Createch

Games Development - participants will gain the skills required for games development, including both technical and artistic skill sets, as well as support to understand and secure employment with the range of roles and companies developing games in Surrey.

3 Retrofit

Retrofit - support participants to gain the skills needed to progress into key energy efficiency surveyor/advisory roles in the retrofit sector.

4 Insulation

Insulation - Participants will learn the theoretical and practical skills required to gain progress into roles in the energy efficiency sector.

5 Low Carbon Heating

Low Carbon Heating - supporting participants to gain the theoretical and practical skills to become high quality heat pump installers.

6 Green Electrical

Green Electrical - participants will gain the technical and practical skills to install and maintain renewable energy systems including solar photo-voltaic (PV), electric vehicle (EV) charging and battery storage.

7 Sustainable and Carbon Management

Sustainable and Carbon Management - Support Participants to gain the skills needed to manage carbon reduction planning and other sustainability initiatives within business, including facilitating greater understanding of the climate crisis and Net-Zero requirements

8 Advance Engineering

Advance Engineering - participants will learn the technical and personal skills to succeed in advanced engineering roles, as well as an overview of the key roles and employers.

9 Health and Social Care

Health and Social Care - aimed at supporting people into/already in a range of health and social care roles, giving participants the essential skills and knowledge to enter/progress in this key and growing local sector
