Legal Justification
SANDS have with exclusive rights to the National Bereavement Care Pathways. These pathways aim to improve the quality and consistency of NHS bereavement care received by every parent during and after pregnancy or baby. SANDS lead a collaboration of organisations who together have developed the National Bereavement Care Pathway (NBCP) and are the only existing provider for implementation. The National Bereavement Care Pathways have been successfully implemented and evaluated in England and Scotland. The main aim of this work is to adapt these national pathways for Northern Ireland use. SANDS will provide Project Management for the work and will organise several workshops to engage parents, families and stakeholders. They would also train Professionals in the use of the Standards and Care Pathways. As the final stage of the project, they would evaluate the effectiveness of the implementation process.
