Total Quantity or Scope

GCC have delivered a functional RTPI system since 2004. Bus services are invaluable to local economies and the health and wellbeing of the passengers that they serve. In Gloucestershire there are approximately 20 million trips made on buses per year. RTPI supports all services (council-supported and commercial) by ensuring passengers have accurate and up to date information. GCC’s first system was delivered by Vix Technologies in 2004, which in 2015 was upgraded and expanded by Trapeze Group UK. Gloucestershire’s ‘Local Transport Plan’ set out strategy for 2015-2041 and was reviewed to reflect national policy updates and local priorities in the face of change. Significant size communities live in rural and urban settings. Gloucestershire’s draft Local Industrial Strategy sees the distinct rural quality of the county as a clear asset but also highlights the limited availability of rural transport services. Rural mobility and thus making RTPI functional and an asset across the county is a key topic for ITU’s current and future work.
