Description

The purpose of this notice is to inform the market about forthcoming market engagement events. This will be aimed at gathering insights and evidence that will enable us to consider how future procurement of Skills Bootcamps could continue to meet the needs of a changing labour market. The events will aim to: - Gain market insights into employer demand for roles in current Skills Bootcamp delivery and demand for new roles, to inform which categories may be procured for in potential future Skills Bootcamps competitions. - Seek feedback from the market on potential policy and operational adaptations to the current delivery model. - Signpost interested suppliers to the Skills Bootcamps DPS application processes. - Provide an opportunity for both the Department for Education (DfE) and suppliers to ask questions. Skills Bootcamps are currently delivering in the following categories: Digital; Business and Administration; Construction and the Built Environment; Creative & Design; Engineering & Manufacturing; Sales, Marketing & Procurement; Education & Early Years and Transport & Logistics (HGV). DPS categories align with IfATE's (Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education) 15 occupational maps. https://www.instituteforapprenticeships.org/occupational-maps/ This market testing will support the planning for any potential future Skills Bootcamps competitions through the Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS). This PIN is for market engagement only. It does not signify the commencement of any call for competition process and does not constitute any commitment by the DfE. The Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) The Skills Bootcamps DPS launched on 21st November 2022 to procure future Skills Bootcamps and quickly respond to emerging skills needs. We have now run two national competitions through the DPS, supporting the following skill areas; Digital, Sales Marketing & Procurement, Business and Administration, Construction and the Built Environment, Engineering and Manufacturing, Transport and Logistics, with the addition of two new sectors: Education and Early Years and Creative and Design. The DPS will only be used to procure Skills Bootcamps and has a term of up to 6 years, with an indicative overall value of approximately £1.5bn.

The DfE would like to invite both suppliers who are already on the DPS and those who are not currently on to the DPS to attend this event. To be invited to call-off competitions for Skills Bootcamps, suppliers must first undergo the qualification process (SQ) as part of the DPS onboarding process. Suppliers who intend to bid for future competitions are encouraged to apply to the DPS and not wait for call-off competitions to be announced- the Skills Bootcamps DPS is open to applications. Suppliers can register on Jaggaer on the below link: https://education.app.jaggaer.com/web/login.html Instructions can be found on https://www.gov.uk/guidance/bid-to-supply-skills-bootcamps Skills Bootcamps background Skills Bootcamps are free, flexible courses of up to 16 weeks, giving people the opportunity to build up sector-specific skills, with an offer of a job interview with an employer on completion. Skills Bootcamps have the potential to transform the skills landscape for adults and employers, by delivering a pipeline of skilled workers. Skills Bootcamps aim to equip adults with technical skills that enable them to access in-demand jobs, apprenticeships (and for the self-employed, new opportunities), better jobs leading to increased income and productivity, and they fast-track learners to an interview with an employer. Skills Bootcamps courses are available part-time and full-time, in a range of locations, including some online courses, and individual providers offer other flexibilities to ensure that all eligible adults can take advantage of these training opportunities. The training is free for learners and primarily funded by the DfE, with employers paying 30% of the total cost if using the scheme to upskill existing employees, reduced to a 10% contribution for SMEs.
