FI SDH - The role of the SDH Network at MPC, FI (hereafter referred to as FI SDH) is that of a data bearer sub-system which carries traffic generated by end-users in a seamless and reliable manner. Data messages from external sending terminals pass into the SDH Network at one of the network nodes and onwards through intermediate nodes until the data message arrives at the destination node and then passed to the external destination terminal. Legal Justification
The Air Defence and Electronic Warfare Systems (ADEWS) Defence Team, part of the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD), intends to Award a contract to Thales UK Ltd to procure the Provision of Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) System at Mount Pleasant Complex (MPC), Falkland Islands and RAF Gibraltar. It is considered that this contract can be awarded using the Negotiated Procedure Without Prior Publication pursuant to Article 28(1) (e) of Directive 2009/81/EC (Regulation 16(1)(a)(i) of the Defence and Security Public Contracts Regulations 2011). FI SDH - The role of the SDH Network at MPC, FI (hereafter referred to as FI SDH) is that of a data bearer sub-system which carries traffic generated by end-users in a seamless and reliable manner. GIB SDH - The role of the SDH Network at RAF Gibraltar (hereafter referred to as GIB SDH) is that of a high-capacity data bearer carrying voice and data communications between all nodes, which are located at three main sites The Contract Notice (CN) was issued 29/02/2024 and Thales UK ltd were the only company to have registered any interest via the DSP. Therefore, this provides justification that this requirement could be procured on a single source basis rather than a competition.
