Description
Crooks Beck Lining Package is a contract for two consecutive structures on the A683, to the south of Kirby Stephen: Crooks Beck North is a 3-span limestone bridge, skew to the carriageway and approximately 16m in length. Each of the three spans are uneven but roughly circular in section. The structure carries the A683 over Tarn Sike, an ordinary watercourse. Crooks Beck South is a 5-span circular masonry structure. The spans comprise of random rubble and are approximately 1m in diameter and 8m in length. The structure carries the A683 over an ordinary watercourse, Scandal Beck. Due to deformation, mortar loss and cracking to the structures, Westmorland & Furness Council (W&FC) have taken the decision to progress a Contract to carry out structural lining to all spans of both Crooks Beck North and Crooks Beck South. In addition to the lining works, there is a requirement for concrete verges to be installed at Crooks Beck North as well as verge markers.
