Description
The Defence Academy (DefAc) is responsible for developing the intellectual edge needed to support Defence Outputs. As part of International Group (Intl Gp), the Defence Centre for Language and Culture (DCLC), hereon referred to as the Authority, contributes to this vision through the delivery of English Language Training (ELT) to overseas military personnel in preparation for attendance at flagship UK Staff courses and as part of a wider Defence Engagement (DE) agenda. The Authority provides British military ELT to self-funding and UK sponsored international military personnel and civilian officials. ELT provision is recognised as a vital tool for promoting international security cooperation, strengthening international peace and stability, and supporting wider British interests. ELT is demand-led. As such, the scope of the requirement may fluctuate. While some of DCLC’s ELT requirements are delivered by permanent Civil Servant Burnham Lecturers (BLs) and military personnel, delivery capacity is augmented when needed with commercially contracted tutors (hereon referred to as tutors). The Provider is required to have the capability, capacity and flexibility to support the DCLC permanent delivery team when required and tutors are expected to work collaboratively and in partnership with the Authority’s BL team.
