Description

UKRI's RAL Space department seek to procure a collimator system for optical measurements over the visible (VIS) to thermal infrared (TIR) wavelength range (spectral range: 0.40 μm to 14.00 μm). The system shall be used to provide pre-launch optical characterisation and calibration of small earth observing satellites, imaging systems and any remote sensing optical solution that falls under the category of small EO satellites. The proposed system shall include a collimator, appropriate uniform white light and TIR sources, precision targets and target wheel for specific tests. The system shall include all the necessary equipment and control software needed to operate the equipment (mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical, electro-optical and software/firmware) All individual parts are expected to be fully integrated into a robust enclosure system.

Total Quantity or Scope

This procurement exercise seeks to purchase a complete system that will provide a spatially homogeneous light beam from Vis to NIR with reasonable temporal stability and accuracy to optical characterise cameras and sensors used for EO. The system is going to be installed in the premises of UKRI, RAL Space, at Harwell Campus, OX11 0QX, UK, and be part of the Small Satellite Calibration Facility of RAL Space. The system shall be able to perform accordingly to the requirements set in this tender with the capability to perform measurements of a sensor’s Line-Of-Sight, FOV, MTF, PSF and Distortion. The capability to perform radiometric tests is useful, but not mandatory as these will be covered by other equipment. The estimated value of the opportunity is: £150,000.00 to £220,000.00 GBP excluding VAT. The System should be delivered by 31st March 2024, support and training must be completed within 4 months after delivery.
