Description
Award for the University Supply Chain Framework. This framework is for use by NNL only. The scope of the framework is post-doctoral research projects, university commercial contract research projects and university consultancy.
Lot Division
1 | Clean Energy
Post-doctoral level and higher activities for each relevant lot related to clean energy (I.e., net zero-related energy production and related aspects). Activities may cover (but not be limited to) the following: (a) Fundamental and applied research based at the university itself or at an NNL site (through our user access schemes) (b) Commercial activities including contract research, technical review, technical research support. Universities must be able to demonstrate expertise and experience in leading and undertaking the above activities at post-doctoral and higher level within the named lots, related to the Clean Energy category. There are seven sub-criteria within this lot, these are: 1.1 Irradiated materials 1.2 Nuclear fuels 1.3 Hydrogen 1.4 Reactor Chemistry 1.5 Structural integrity 1.6 Reactor technology 1.7 Integrated energy systems & co-generation Award Criteria

2 | Environmental Restoration
Post-doctoral level and higher activities for each relevant lot related to environmental restoration (I.e., addressing, and remediating damage caused to the environment by nuclear activities). Activities may cover (but not be limited to) the following: (a) Fundamental and applied research based at the university itself or at an NNL site (through our user access schemes) (b) Commercial activities including contract research, technical review, technical research support. Universities must be able to demonstrate expertise and experience in leading and undertaking the above activities at post-doctoral and higher level within the named lots, related to the Environmental Restoration category. There are seven sub-criteria within this Lot: 2.1 Radioactive waste treatment/management 2.2 Decontamination 2.3 Recycling active materials 2.4 Radiochemistry 2.5 Thermal treatment 2.6 Decommissioning 2.7 Disposal of active materials Award Criteria
| ||||||
3 | Security and Non-Proliferation
Post-doctoral level and higher activities for each relevant lot related to security and non-proliferation (I.e., exploring issues related to the security of nuclear sites and nuclear activities and halting the spread of fissionable material, nuclear weapons, and weapons-applicable nuclear technology and information). Activities may cover (but not be limited to) the following: (a) Fundamental and applied research based at the university itself or at an NNL site (through our user access schemes) (b) Commercial activities including contract research, technical review, technical research support. Universities must be able to demonstrate expertise and experience in leading and undertaking the above activities at post-doctoral and higher level within the named lots, related to the Security and Non-proliferation category. There are seven sub-criteria within this Lot: 3.1 Nuclear safety 3.2 Proliferation resistance 3.3 Physical security 3.4 Robotics and autonomous systems 3.5 Isotope separations 3.6 Measurement and analysis 3.7 Monitoring Award Criteria

4 | Health and Nuclear Medicine
Post-doctoral level and higher activities for each relevant lot related to health and nuclear medicine (I.e., exploring issues and activities related to supporting health and medicine from within the nuclear sector). Activities may cover (but not be limited to) the following: (a) Fundamental and applied research based at the university itself or at an NNL site (through our user access schemes) (b) Commercial activities including contract research, technical review, technical research support. Universities must be able to demonstrate expertise and experience in leading and undertaking the above activities at post-doctoral and higher level within the named lots, related to the Health and Nuclear Medicine category There are six sub-criteria within this Lot: 4.1 Isotope separations 4.2 Nuclear medicine 4.3 Target and fuel manufacturing research 4.4 Nuclear physics 4.5 Accelerator research 4.6 Chemical separation Award Criteria
| ||||||
5 | Cross Cutting Lots/ Underpinning Activities
Post-doctoral level and higher activities for each relevant lot related to the lots that underpin all four of the previous categories. Activities may cover (but not be limited to) the following: (a) Fundamental and applied research based at the university itself or at an NNL site (through our user access schemes) (b) Commercial activities including contract research, technical review, technical research support. Universities must be able to demonstrate expertise and experience in leading and undertaking the above activities at post-doctoral and higher level within the named lots and should be able to provide such expertise over at least two of lots 1-4. There are four sub-criteria within this Lot: 5.1 Modelling (real & predictive) and simulation 5.2 Characterisation (materials and environmental) 5.3 Robotics and Artificial Intelligence 5.4 Life cycle assessment Award Criteria
