Description

Fife Council is looking to engage with potential Combined Heat & Power (CHP) specialists to Supply, Install, commission and maintain a new CHP system at Lochhead Landfill Site Anaerobic Digestion Plant.

Total Quantity or Scope

The existing CHP engine is at the end of it’s operational life and we are looking to replace it with a new engine. The existing engine is rated at 1100kW and may be oversized for the current gas supply. Alternative capacities / configurations will be considered. The existing CHP engine runs on biogas consisting of approximately 50-60% methane produced from the fermenters in the AD Plant. Gas production varies from approximately 62,000m3 per week in peak summer months to approximately 28,000m3 per week in winter. There is significant variation in daily gas production. The council are looking into means of improving the winter gas production. Prospective suppliers may be asked to propose solutions that maximise the utilisation of the biogas and maximise the economic benefit to the council.
