Description
First phase of the restoration of the Victorian Cast Iron Terraces on Madeira Drive Brighton including repairs to the retaining wall and decking, installation of a new public lift and stairway.
Total Quantity or Scope
The restricted tender process intially decsribed a scope of 40 arches, associated deck, retaining wall repairs and delivery of a new lift. The shortlisting exercise at SQ returned 4 successfully shortlisted bidders. Due to inflation the scope of the project was reduced to 28 arches, associated deck, retaining wall repairs and delivery of a new lift. The award of the contract resulted in some value engineering from the original scope which slightly altered methodology and consolidated some smaller areas of work such as planters on the decking.
