Description
Job Title: Commissioning Officer Rate of Pay: TBC Hours: 30 hours pw Location: Sandwell Council House, Freeth Street, Oldbury, B69 3DE. Start Date: TBC Contract type: Agency Brief description: This role involves leading the development, implementation, monitoring, and continuous review of services for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and those in Alternative Provision (AP) within the Sandwell area. The primary objective is to improve outcomes for children and young people by ensuring that the SEND/AP services and provisions meet high standards and effectively address their needs. The role also involves supporting strategic commissioning processes and overseeing the development of specialist SEND places, as well as managing the SEND capital grant. Key Focus Areas: o Service development and redesign to enhance outcomes for children and young people. o Commissioning of high-quality, cost-effective services that meet the needs of children with SEND and those in Alternative Provision. o Developing strong partnerships with service providers, stakeholders, and the community. o Ensuring that services are fit for purpose, align with statutory requirements, and are based on best practices. o Continuous engagement with service users and their families to inform policy and strategy development. Qualification Requirement: - Degree or equivalent recent and relevant experience, plus a recognised management qualification or evidence of continued management development at a senior level. Experience: - Knowledge of developments impacting on the functions of local authorities related to SEND, and the interrelationships between agencies. - Knowledge of current relevant legislation and statutory duties, responsibilities and best practice in the field of SEND.
