Description
We will be awarding to Field Studies Council for a residential biology field course in Wales as it provides us with the apporpriate accomodation and faciilities for staff and students. The Field Studies Council location allows the students to study and develop their skills for basic ecological techniques in woodland, meadow, river and sand dune systems, and identifying plants, insects and other invertebrates which are essential for those Biological Science courses with an ecological component, especially Animal Biology and Conservation, Zoology and many of the general Biological Sciences students. It also allows flexibility over the weather, long days frequently 9 am to 9 pm, only breaking for meals. # Field Studies Council is an environmental education charity who can provide field work and outdoor learning courses in a number of locations that are fully equipped to deal with group laboratory facilities, equipment needed for biological field work and dormitory accommodation.
Total Quantity or Scope
Field Sudies Council also provide transport and guidance for appropriate locations where the particular field can be successful. We have done much previous reconnaissance work in this area to ensure that we have access to particular sites, that these exercises are possible with this number of students giving results that they can work with and that the field centre can supply the facilities we need.
