Description

Derry City and Strabane District Council invite suppliers to tender for PeacePlus Our Present Past. This project is an adult-based, cross-community dialogue programme exploring any aspect or combination of aspects of the past relevant to understanding Northern Ireland today e.g. World War 1 and/or 2, and/or Colonialism, and/or Plantation and/or the Troubles and/or Peace Process. Topics will be discussed in interactive, community accessible way to adult community participants who may (or may not) have limited formal education and limited/no prior knowledge. Creative approaches to learning and site visits are encouraged in combination with more structured workshop-based learning and dialogue. 4 cross-community cohorts of 25-30 participants across 1 year – 18 months (or similar). This project is under the Celebrating Cultures and Diversity Theme. Arising from the Co-design process across the District, this project should strive to bring key benefit across the entire council area including rural and urban areas. The project will also encourage cross-border participation. The Co-Design process indicated a need to build on the PEACEIV Decade of Centenaries work and a continued interest in history. It was felt vital to include dialogue-based projects based on the principles of Shared and Ethical Remembrance which engage with potentially contentious issues in history and which challenge thinking and encourage learning and reflection. Please refer to the CfT documents for further detail.
