Description

NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board are intending to award a contract for Secure Mental Health Transport Services to Secure 24 (Trading as Definitive PSA ltd) for a period of 3 years from 1st February 2025 to 21st January 2028, with the option to extend for a further 2 years to 31st January 2030.

Total Quantity or Scope

NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board are intention to award a contract for Secure Mental Health Transport Services. The service will provide safe and effective secure transport for individuals with mental health needs (under various sections of the Mental Health Act 1983), and a support and observation (sitting) staff service for patients during detention or stay in a Place of Safety or acute hospital emergency department (ED) under this legal framework - namely Section 136 of the Mental Health Act. This service will not include transport of individuals with mental health needs where secure transport is not required as this is provided by existing patient transport service provisions. To ensure effective and timely responses the service shall provide a single point of contact number for police officers and mental health professionals to call to arrange transport to the nearest appropriate Place of Safety (PoS) or other location as requested. The service will operate in an area of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board (ICB) which covers the places of North and Mid Hampshire, South West Hampshire, South East Hampshire, Southampton, Portsmouth and Isle of Wight. The population for the ICB is 1.9 million. The service will operate in and out of Hampshire. The ICB are intending to award the contract for 3 years from 1st February 2025 to 21st January 2028, with the option to extend for a further 2 years to 31st January 2030. This notice is an intention to award a contract under the competitive process (Provider Selection Regime - PSR). The lifetime value of the award is £10,285,171 excluding VAT. This is an existing service which has been retendered, via the competitive process under PSR. The ICB intends to award the service to a new provider, Secure 24 (Trading as Definitive PSA ltd).
