Total Quantity or Scope

This is a variation to an existing contract between Linklaters LLP and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ). The scope of this contract pertains to the provision of legal advisory services to the DESNZ Sizewell C (SZC) project team, which is critical due to the complexity of a new nuclear build and the specialist skills required to deliver associated funding mechanisms. Additional work has become necessary due to the timing of the UK General Election and its impact on the wider project timelines. The current contract value as stated in the contract award notice is £15.96m. This is made up of the initial 10-month contract, valued at £12m, and two optional three-month extensions to increase the value of the contract by £3.96m (£2.34m + £1.62m). A subsequent variation under Regulation 72 (1) (b) of the Public Contracts Regulation 2015 will take into account the combined value and period of the optional extensions and add an increase in the value and period of the contract by up to £7.98m and up to four months to 31/07/2025. Accordingly, the existing options to extend will be replaced and extended by one extension of 10 months and by a total value of £11.94m. As such, the maximum value of the contract, since 1st December 2023, is £23.94m with a maximum period of 20 months.
