Legal Justification

The MOD long term strategy for F-35 sustainment is to reduce operating costs, risks and management overhead by consolidating contracting activity. The award of the Hard Facilities Management contract with Lockheed Martin UK is consistent with this strategy as its parent company, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, is the main provider of Air Vehicle sustainment operations for the UK F-35 fleet via the National Support Solution contract, for which provision of a Hard Facilities Management service is a government dependency.
