Other Information

** PREVIEW NOTICE, please check Find a Tender for full details. ** The services required under this contract is for a full funeral service including; removal of the body to an appropriate facility, making arrangements for a funeral service, preparation of the body and the provision of the coffin. The funeral service provided should be capable of meeting the needs of the diverse community for which the Council is responsible. The Council has a legal obligation to meet its respective responsibilities under the 2014 Care Act and 1984 Public Health (Control of Diseases) Act. The Act requires that deceased persons without family or friends able or willing to make arrangements for their burial, should have the necessary arrangements made by the local authority. Deaths which occur where there are no known relatives are allocated to a social care worker. Should the Council locate a relative it will ask them if they wish to take over the funeral arrangements and/or the payment for the fun. It is expected that there will be around 100 funeral services required annually under the contract, with the majority of these being cremations.
