Description
Highways England is responsible for managing the strategic road network across England. It is our intention to replace the current incident screens and trailer system towards a product that utilises lightweight, weather resistance and cost-effective maintenance materials. It is intended that the procurement programme will take place over a period of 22 months from January 2021 to the end of October 2022.Incident screens may be used either at incident locations or in work zones to block drivers’ view (from the live carriageway to the incident carriageway) of the incident or work activities that might cause distraction from driving. These will be referred to as “free-standing incident screens”.
Total Quantity or Scope
A free-standing incident screen must comprise: o a panel type screen consisting of rigid, flexible or semi-flexible sheet material that is restrained by attachment to a rigid supporting structure to form a panel, with a series of portable bases to support one or more panels the stability of which may be augmented by means of suitable forms of ballast; or o a self-contained screen comprising a folding, self-supporting structure, used to support rigid, flexible or semi-flexible sheet material restrained at the top, bottom and sides. Expressions of interest are welcome from companies that can provide a product of this type.
