Description
The UK Parliament is seeking to establish a framework contract with a number of partner organisations, who will be responsible for the delivery of a range of Heritage Collection handling and transit requirements.
Lot Division
1 | Regular Work From a Daily Task List This primarily consists of simple installations of collections items (primarily flat art), small scale moves of flat works on paper and canvas, but may include small sculpture and other 3-D items, protection in situ and subsequent removal of protection, maintenance works in collections store area, hanging of labels and similar levels of work. This work is task list orientated and is based on technician day rates, it can include weekend/out of hours rates where applicable. The applicants will be expected to provide a small team of regular technicians who will be used for these works to ensure that a good knowledge of the building on the Parliamentary Estate can be established along with the working practices expected. The applicants must supply their technician day rates including weekend and out of hours rates. |
2 | Stand-alone Small-medium art Handling Projects These projects are often linked to a single collection item or limited selection of collection items. Some fabrication work may fall into this lot category — e.g. plinth building, provision of travel frames, crates, display backboards. Fabrication is not an essential requirement for successful candidates. |
3 | Large-scale Complex Project Work This can involve the installation, deinstallation or movement of large and/or fragile works of art requiring complex planning and often within tight timescales. These projects involve advance scoping and planning works, multiple day programmes of work and involve multiple skillsets |
4 | Transit This refers to the transit of heritage collections items in air-ride vehicles from Parliament to and from external locations e.g. borrower premises, conservators, off-site storage. The provider/supplier must be able to safely secure Heritage Collections items in the vehicle and have ample experience of handling to understand and adopt safe methods of securing collections items during transit. Suppliers must also be able to produce transit insurance certificates relating to the value of the items if requested to do so. |
