Description

2.1 Active Building Centre is requesting Proposals for all works, supply and installation of equipment for the 1MW battery.

Total Quantity or Scope

The Active Building Centre is a government funded company by UKRI to install, test and prove renewable energy systems in the UK. This mobile research facility will be used demonstrate and test new technologies providing key data to apply to larger projects for the housing sector and residential buildings. This test model will study / evaluate available data from Active technology and on-going research gathering. Active Building Centre is requesting Proposals for all works, supply and installation of equipment for the 1MW battery. This document gives a brief description of the project and the required outcome. Project description Project type: Outdoor Battery Storage Planning Status: Planning Consent may be required Grid Connection: 1 MW Import and Export Located alongside the river Severn on the site of a now decommissioned nuclear power station, Berkeley Green College opened to students in September 2017. Space has been set aside to add 1MW of battery storage capacity in a small section of the visitor car park. The substation on site connects to Western Power Distribution’s 11kV network and sits adjacent to the allocated space. The space set aside is 25m by 6m on an area of hard standing next to the substation. Being an outdoor location it is expected that the battery system will need to be containerised. Access roads and hard standing are already in place, but please inform us of specific loading requirements for us to undertake the necessary civil works prior to delivery of the equipment. The Berkeley site will have a certain installed capacity of PV and wind turbine – estimated at 250 kW. This may be used for charging the battery.
